She & Him is an American indie rock band consisting of actress Zooey Deschanel (vocals, piano, banjo) and musician M. Ward (guitar, production). In addition to playing at the 2008 South by Southwest festival, the band's first album Volume One, was released in March 2008. The album introduces a boy and girl choir hell-bent on making music the old-fashioned way: by hand, and with as few machines as humanly possible. Ward’s unique arrangements and virtuostic guitar playing paired with Deschanel’s affinity for vocal harmony give Volume One its characteristic sound.
