BIG EARS 2010 is turning up the volume - expanding the breadth and depth of the BIG EARS concept to create an unprecedented festival experience. Over 30 artists/bands will perform some 50 concerts in multiple venues throughout the weekend, along with art exhibitions, installations, film screenings, workshops, interactive experiences, lectures and discussions. Artists performing at Big Ears 2010: Abe Vigoda, Ahleuchatistas, Sam Amidon, Andrew W.K., Argentinum Astrum, Bang on a Can All-Stars, William Basinski, Adrian Belew, Iva Bittova, The Books, Buke & Gass, Calder Quartet, Clogs, Damaged Patients, Bryce Dessner, Destroyed By Magnets, Dirty Projectors, Doveman, The 802 Tour, The Ex, Forest Magic, Ben Frost, Gang Gang Dance, Jens Hannemann, Tim Hecker, Shelley Hirsch, Javelin, jj, Konk Pack, Lesser Gonzalez Alvarez, Liturgy, Andy Moor, Nico Muhly, My Brightest Diamond, The National, New Brutalism, Joanna Newsom, Nosaj Thing, Gyan Riley, Terry Riley, DJ /rupture, Shaking Ray Levis, Shortwave Society, Tracy Silverman, Nadia Sirota, Ches Smith, Sufjan Stevens, St. Vincent, Vampire Weekend, Videohippos, Villages, Warband, The xx. Visionary American minimalist composer, Terry Riley is Artist in Residence. Bryce Dessner, best known as guitarist for the acclaimed rock band the National, is co-curator for the festival. Big Ears is about pushing musical boundaries, making space for unique collaborations, and experiencing new work in intimate settings. In addition, the wide variety of artists from the Calder Quartet to Bang on a Can and the 802 Tour will provide an unprecedented experience. Expect the unexpected.
