Legendary soul singer Al Green headlines the annual Regal Entertainment Group presents Stars on Stage 2010 fundraiser for the Historic Tennessee Theatre Foundation on Sunday, May 23 at 7:30 pm. Green follows in the footsteps of previous years’ headliners B.B. King, Bill Cosby, Tony Bennett and Jay Leno.

"We are so excited to have Al Green back at the Tennessee Theatre," says Eric Schwartzentraub, president of the Historic Tennessee Theatre Board of Directors. "He brings major star power to the Stars on Stage event."

Green is known for the hits "Love and Happiness" and "Let's Stay Together," among others. In 2005, Rolling Stone magazine ranked him No. 65 in their list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time. His latest album is 2008's Lay it Down. 
 


Stars on Stage is the non-profit theater's annual fundraising event, which supports the Tennessee's annual operating budget and helps ensure the preservation of this world-class performance venue. 
 
Buyers of the top-tier tickets are invited to participate in a pre-show reception with drinks, food and a silent auction. The silent auction will end before doors open to the general public.

Prior to Al Green's performance, a live auction will take place from the stage. Everyone in the audience is eligible to bid during the live auction, which will include several music-themed items. Past auction items have included a catered private dinner party on the Tennessee Theatre stage; a private movie screening for up to 1,500 guests; and the highest bidder's message of choice on the Tennessee Theatre marquee.

Tickets for the fund raiser go on sale Friday, February 12 at 10 a.m., priced at $252, $75, and $65 plus applicable service fees. A portion of the VIP ticket price is a tax-deductible donation to the Historic Tennessee Theatre Foundation.
